Blue Suede News Review of "Whiskey Nights" from Winter Issue #73, page 25

By Marc Bristol

"Here's a new CD from a San Antonio, Texas group with a totally refreshing sound! A quartet with the basic original rockabilly sound of acoustic guitar, lead electric guitar, upright bass and vocals, they preserve the original edge of country music that lead to the rockabilly sound. We have really enjoyed their shows the few times we got to see them up here in Seattle. Most of the 13 tunes on Whiskey Nights are original, either written by singer Lil' Bit Adams, or bass player Tomcat Miller. Lead guitarist Brian Duarte also is featured on his own instrumental 'Stampede'. I really like his playing, which suits this band perfectly, and he also plays a little steel! The covers come from the Louvin Brothers (Red Hen Hop) and Reno & Smiley (Country Boy Rock n' Roll). Everything has a laid back feel, which is why I said refreshing up above. So many bands feel the need to our rock everybody else, and lose important aspects of life and music from the 50s. We all like to rock too, but it's nice to do it in a more relaxed fasion some of the time. I really like this band, and I like their new CD a lot too!
They do tour around, so take the opportunity to see them live if you have the chance! And whether you do or not, pick up the CD, I think it'll have you dancing around the kitchen, or wherever you happen to listen. Unless you're the type who needs music to pund on you a lot harder to move you. You know who you are. I like to be hit as hard as the Blasters hit, for example, sometimes, but I often crave the mellower approach that typified much music at the beginning edge of rockabilly."
